UPDATE 5/12/16 -The Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Carlie Trent was found safe Thursday afternoon, and Simpson was arrested near Gravely Valley Road, according to WCYB in Johnson City. Donnie Lawson and Stewart Franklin came across Simpson and Carlie at a remote site where they were camping, according to the Tennesean. “One of the men held Simpson at gunpoint while the other called for law enforcement help.”
UPDATE 5/12/16 – This morning Fox News stated: “Simpson had recently lost custody of Trent, who was in her father’s care before her disappearance. But DeVine was emphatic that Trent’s kidnapping was not merely the product of a guardianship battle.” This information coincides with what Calabasas PI posted yesterday (see below this post), although Calabasas posted that he lost custody last week and James Trent said he regained custody a little over a year ago. Further look and we find Simpson was married to James Trent’s sister for 30 years and they live next door. Simpson and his wife, Linda took care of their adult disabled son. Linda told the Times News that James had regained custody a little over a year ago. Linda also told the Times News they used to have custody of Carlie and her sister because their father was in jail. The girls’ father says he regained custody a little over a year ago, but according to Linda Simpson, the girls still primarily lived with them. James was arrested during the Operation Be Mine drug bust in Hawkins County.
UPDATE 5/11/16 – New information has come out from a Facebook post by Calabasas PI: “He’s raised that little girl all along. He lost custody last week due to her bio dad getting out of prison. I’m assuming he couldn’t bare to loose her so he shopped and moved out.” This gives a whole new perspective on the case. Is it possible that Simpson thinks he is protecting the girl? If so maybe he does not intent to harm her, which is what most of us were worried about.
UPDATE 5/10/16 – Carlie is still missing. The police have received over 500 tips, they are following up on. They police believe that Carlie and Simpson are probably at a campgrounds in eastern Tennessee.

If you think you see the van, please take a photo to give to the police and call the police. Another video has been released.
Carlie’s father said that Simpson’s name was on the pickup list at the school for all of his kids. “I don’t know what would process him to do such a thing. It’s just evil,” said James Trent. Trent said that he told the school that he was in a bad traffic accident and that Carlie would not be in school for a day or too and he believes that Simpson told Carlie the same thing.
UPDATE: 5/7/16 – TBI posted, “In spite of our best efforts, at this time, there has been no credible sighting of the child, the suspect, or the van in which the two are believed to be riding. This, along with our investigative effort, leads us to believe the individuals may not be in public view and may be located in a campground, state park, or other isolated area.”
Carlie’s pediatrician, Dr. Chris Calendine, informed the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation he will offer a $10,000 reward for information leading to her safe recovery and the United States Marshal’s Service indicated they were offering $2,500 in reward money.
