Michigan daughter and mother missing; purse found side of road FOUND

sapphirepalmer25/12/16 – Michigan State Police confirmed that the Amber alert was canceled when Amanda and Sapphire were located by Florida law enforcement.  Amanda said that she and her daughter were traveling alone. Hamburg Police filed a petition to hospitalize Amanda Hayward for a mental evaluation.  Amanda filed charges against her husband for beating her with a frying pan.  She also stated he was using bugging devices in her home.  According to Livingston Daily, Amanda was to be in court on Tuesday for the case against Sapphire’s father. “According to court records there, the father, who has served a prison term for assault and firearms, is charged with assault with intent to commit great bodily harm less than murder, felonious assault, aggravated domestic violence and failing to stop at a property damage accident.”

5/12/16 – New information has come out that states that Amanda and Sapphire may be traveling with a registered sex offender Douglas Steven Stanko, 64. The police are now stating Amanda was “experiencing paranoia.”

The Amber Alert say Amanda “is paranoid, delusional and may be armed” with a 9-mm Hi Point semi-automatic handgun.

Interestingly, Amanda’s father, Darryl Hayward told the Livingston Daily that he doesn’t believe Stanko would hurt Sapphire and called Stanko a nice person.  Darryl also stated that he believes that the paranoid episode Amanda was having and whatthe police were referring to came on due to her “mixing alcohol and medication.”  He said his daughter woke him up in the middle of the night pounding on furniture and saying that someone was “bugging” their house and putting cameras in it.   She also put her cellphone in the toilet.  This might explain why Amanda left her purse on the side of the road, because she may have believed their was a “bug” in it.

Stanko is an Asian or Pacific Island male with black hair and brown eyes. He is about 5’8″ tall and 169 pounds. He has a scar on his arms and left eyebrow. His last known residence is on George Place in Ypislanti.

5/11/16 – Amanda Elizabeth Hayward, 30 and her daughter, Sapphire Elizabeth Palmer, 7, were last seen leaving their home in Chilson and Bishop Lake Roads in Hamburg Township, Michigan around 3 a.m. on May 10, reports the Livingston Daily.

They were driving a black 2001 Chevrolet Prizm that was found by the police in Ypsilanti Township on Wednesday.   Amanda’s purse was found on the road a few miles from her house around 6:30 a.m. on May 10.  Inside was her credit cards and cash.    Sapphire missed school Tuesday and Wednesday.

“I don’t want to get into the circumstances in which the mother and daughter departed, and we don’t believe the mother is a threat to the little girl or herself, but it was enough for us to search for them the past two days,” said Hamburg Township Police Department Chief Richard Duffany.
