Missing Person Illinois Kenneka Jenkins
October 7, 2017 – An autopsy report has stated that Kenneka Jenkins died from hypothermia. In the report it stated that mucosal erosions were found that is a type of lesion, that indicates hypothermia. The testing found alcohol, caffeine and the epilepsy/migraine medication topiramate in Jenkins’ system. No date rape drug was found in her system. Her blood alcohol level was 0.112. The reports states that there was no signs of assault or sexual assault. The the family filed a legal document in Cook County Circuit Court in October , claiming several padlocks that could have prevented entry to the unused freezer were available nearby but not used.
Kenneka Jenkins, 19, was last seen at a party at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare Hotel & Conference Center in Rosemont on Saturday. Then on Sunday, hotel staff found her body inside a walk-in freezer in the basement of the hotel.
Her mother, Tereasa Martin, received a call around 4:30 a.m. Saturday from Kenneka’s friends, Irene Roberts and Monifah Shelton who said they couldn’t find Kenneka after the party, reports Fox 5 San Diego news. Her mother went to the hotel and asked the staff to check surveillance video in hopes of finding any trace of her daughter. The hotel, I guess didn’t like Tereasa asking questions so they called the police to say she was disturbing the peace, reports Fox 5.
Several hours later, the hotel staff came across Kenneka’s body in the freezer.
Kenneka’s mother told the Chicago Tribune that the police believed that Kenneka was drunk and opened the freezer door, thinking it was an elevator door or the hotel entrance and let herself in.
“She was so drunk–that was his exact words–she was so drunk she couldn’t hold herself up. She was holding on to the wall,” Martin told WGN. Because of that, Tereasa doesn’t understand how Kenneka could have opened the heavy door to go inside.
It is speculation at best to understand what happened to Kenneka, at this time, but Tereasa believes her daughter’s death was foul play.
Video from the party
There is a video of the party and it has captured thousands upon thousands of views as people try to find clues as to what happened to Kenneka. The Facebook Live video circulating social media (video below) shows Kenneka’s friend with other people nearby in a 9th-floor room of the Crowne Plaza. Rumors on Twitter claimed Kenneka’s friends set her up to be raped for money; $200, and the proof is in the video that was uploaded to Monifah Shelton‘s Facebook page. Claims are you can hear Kenneka say, “help me,” in the video, and when the cries become loud, Irene Roberts, a friend of Kenneka’s turns up the music. In a different part of the clip, a male voice apparently says, “We’re about to murder somebody.” Many have looked at the video and analyzed it and posted their theory on YouTube that Kenneka was asking for help on the video. In the video below, Roberts is wearing mirrored sunglasses while smoking and talking to the camera. The other side of the hotel room can be seen in her glasses. In the background a woman who looks like Kenneka appears to be sitting on a bed. Monifah is seen towards the end of the video.
Then another person at the party has posted another video claiming that Kenneka was fine.
There is accusations that Kenneka was set up by Monifah Shelton. Here’s is a response to those allegations.
The police are stating there was no foul play and it is an accidental death. If Kenneka was raped, I am sure the medical examiner would have known and told the police.
“Anyone can understand how a parent can feel distraught over the loss of a child and feel the need to lash out due to the tremendous pain they’re feeling, and we certainly understand that,” Gary Mack, a spokesman for the village of Rosemont, told the Chicago Tribune Sunday. “But people can rest assured Rosemont is one of the top, highest trained, most respected police departments in the state of Illinois and does a good job at what they do.”
An autopsy test performed on Sunday came back inconclusive, the Chicago Tribune reported Monday.
