Missing Person Kansas Lucas Hernandez
Please note the information on missing Lucas Hernandez is running in reverse chronological order. Please start at the bottom and read up.
June 8, 2018 – Emily Glass has apparently committed suicide. The family of Lucas Hernandez released a statement in response:
Today, Emily Glass chose to end her own life. We are deeply shocked and saddened by this turn of events. Another mother and father have lost a child. Children have lost their mother, and a family will have to grieve someone they loved. We know from experience how heartbreaking and tragic this will be for them.
This is not the ending we would have chosen for Emily. She was the only person on this earth who could tell us what the last moments of our child’s life were like. We wanted answers and we still want justice. Our hope is that the truth will still come out, that there will be answers to the many questions we have.
Please keep Emily’s family in your thoughts and prayers, along with ours. None of us wanted or expected all this loss and devastation that has come to pass. Give both of our families’ time to process this unexpected death.
Jamie Taylor-Orr and Jonathan Hernandez
Shelly Eberhardt a close friend of Emily’s and who was beside her when she went to court, told the media that she did not believe it was a suicide.
March 25 – 2018 – The body of Lucas Hernandez has been positively identified.
March 23, 2018 – The body of Lucas Hernandez has likely been found under a bridge in the 9700 block of South Woodlawn in Harvey County.. The information that the body is Lucas Hernandez comes from a private investigator with the boy’s family. The PI also stated that it was Emily Glass that led the authorities to the body.
March 14 – A court document as been made public. In the document it explains why Emily Glass was arrested.
An interview with Emily while in jail.
At 6:14 p.m. Feb. 17, Wichita police officers were dispatched to a home on South Edgemoor to a “lost juvenile call.” The child was identified as 5-year-old LH, “who was in the care of Emily A. Glass … at their residence” along with a 1-year-old child.
Glass said “she was cleaning then went to the garage to smoke marijuana … she said she smoked a few bowls.” She said she became hungry and drove the 1-year-old to Olive Garden for dinner, the doc says.
The affidavit says records show texts between Glass and “JH” the day she drove to the restaurant, where she said, “she was going to smoke a couple bowls of marijuana and go to Olive Garden and use the gift card JH had sent her.”
February 26 – A neighbor spoke with the Wichita Eagle news and stated she had seen Emily and children, including Lucas on Sunday, Feb. 11. She stated that Emily introduced her to two older boys, ages 7 and 6, and Lucas, 5. She stated she also had a 1-year-old girl.
February 21 – The woman who the police are calling Lucas’ step mother has been arrested on child endangerment charges today. It could mean that because she did something that would be considered dangerous to the children’s well-being when she talked about Lucas’ disappearance that the police believe she was neglectful. One of Lucas’ relatives has come forward and stated that Lucas said that his step mother kicked him and dragged him.
February 19 – A large police presence is in Dr. Glen Dey Park in the 2800 block of North Grove Street. New information has been circulating social media that CPS was called to the home twice after Lucas had bruises on his face and arms. A CPS investigation was opened, but nothing ever came of it and Lucas was allowed to continue living with his father and his “wife”. Also, the “girlfriend” has been changed to stepmother.
The Wichita Police Dept. had a presser today. I will quickly outline what they stated. They called the woman in the home as Lucas’ stepmother. The family on social media is calling her the girlfriend. They police followed up on leads on the tip line and it brought them to the park. But, they are still asking for any information. Nothing was said about any past or present CPS investigation. They state they have not received any previous calls to the residence. (This is an interesting statement, please see third paragraph to see why). They were asked about Lucas being sick and not in school, but the police would not go into any details. The police would not state whether there has been a crime committed. They state they have enough searchers at this time. They have used K-9s. When asked about a past DCF investigation, the police chief refused to answer the question.
Through social media it has been brought up that Lucas may have never been at the house he was reported missing from, per the neighbors who claim to never have seen him. Evidently, the family moved there only a week before. This may also be why the police chief stated that the police have never been to the house before, because they just moved there, but maybe they have been to another house the family lived at. That could also mean that child protection has never been to the new house, either. When you start going over what the police chief said and comparing it to what is being said on social media you can come up with a theory of what might have happened. But, it could be just a case of a small boy leaving his home or opening the door to a stranger.
Also, there has been comments that state the mother is in another state but does visit Lucas all the time.
Lucas Hernandez, 5, is missing from Kansas. Lucas was last seen at home in the 600 block of S. Edgemoor in Wichita around 3 p.m. on Saturday Feb 17, 2018. Lucas’ father. Jonathan was out-of-town and his girlfriend was taking care of Lucas and his baby sister. The girlfriend, Emily, is stating that “they” took a nap around 3 p.m. and when she woke up Lucas was gone. It is not clear if she was taking a nap with the baby or taking a nap with the baby and Lucas.
Social media is stating the back door was left open, but no clarification from the police on that detail.
Lucas is four feet tall and weighs 60 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He has long lashes and a speech impediment due to a cleft palette.
Lucas was last seen wearing a grey shirt with a bear on it, white socks and black pants. He is believed to NOT be wearing any shoes.
If you have seen Lucas or know of his whereabouts, you are asked to call police at 316-383-4661.
Since you’re here
I have a small favor to ask. More people are reading Missing Persons of America than ever and asking for their family member to be shared here. I do it because I believe that every single missing person matters, and they all need equal attention. It can’t be done any quicker, and with no boundaries than social media. Last year, I was bombarded daily with more and more cases to share and found myself falling behind as I work 10 hours a day to feature missing people. Also, the network has grown so large that we are in need of an internet host that can serve the growth, so the website does not go down. Many don’t realize that Missing Persons of America independent, investigative posting takes a lot of time and hard work to produce. Frankly, I need funds. If everyone who reads this website, who likes it, can help, our future would be much more secure. For as little as $1, you can support Missing Persons of America and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
