Sofia Juarez, is a 4-year-old from Kennewick, Washington who police said was abducted near her home in Kennewick in 2003. Police say she was walking west on 15th Avenue toward South Washington Street when she was taken sometime between 8 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. on Feb. 4, 2003.
See Tik Tok video in video above.
Yesterday a video showing a woman who is looking for her family has surfaced and many believe it may be missing Sofia Juarez. The Tik Tok video was posted by a man in Sinaloa, Mexico, who has a TikTok account as Aká y Allá that shows him interviewing a woman who claimed she had been held captive and was trying to reunite with her family. Social media believes it is Sofia Juarez and have notified the Kennewick Police Department.
The woman said in the video she was 22, but she followed that with saying she wasn’t really sure how old she was. Sophia would be 23.
“The truth is, I don’t know where I’m from,” said the woman in Spanish. She said she was addicted to drugs and also asked for her grandparents to come get her.
Sofia Juarez’s family said that they have no connection to that city or state in Mexico, and do not believe that the woman is Sofia, although Victoria Juarez they said in an interview that there were similarities.
Kennewich Police Lt. Aaron Clem responded and said, “We will follow up on every tip that comes through…We need to do our due diligence to make sure that we have everything covered.”
But, right now that is proving difficult as the woman has gone missing in Mexico. The man who did the initial interview has gone back to the same place to look for her, but has not found her.
The police are hopeful she will be located. “I think it’s just a matter of time before we’re able to locate her and hopefully get her to provide us with a DNA sample so that we can compare that to a DNA sample that we have for Sofia.”
Meanwhile the police have more new leads and stated they are also trying to find more information on a light blue, silver or gray van that was parked near where Sofia was last seen on South Washington and East 15th. It is an 1970s to 1980s full-sized panel van that looked like a work van with no side windows, but was not a work van They have also stated that another witness may have seen someone approach Sofia Juarez on a Kennewick and lead Sofia away.
If you were in the area on Feb 4, 2003, and you remember seeing that van between 8 and 9:30 p.m., please call the police.
In March there was a homeless woman in Mexico that social media believe to be missing Jane McDonald Crone. Read story here She also went missing shortly after. Although there were many stories about her finally being found and ruled out as McDonald Crone.
I have also done many stories of homeless in Mexico, and they all have the same story of not being able to speak Spanish. Many have thought they were missing American’s, and some family’s have gone to Mexico to try and find them. Read story here.
