It happened around 7 Tuesday morning at Old Corry Field Road and Perdido Street, in West Pensacola, Florida. A surveillance video captures a man trying to kidnap an 11-year-old girl.
The video shows a white Dodge Journey drive past the girl. About 90 seconds later, the vehicle comes back down the street and stops, and a man gets out of the van and walks toward the girl.
The man tries to take the girl back to his car, but he loses his grip as she fought and struggled to get away. The man stumbles and they both fall. The girl runs away from him and the man runs back to his van.
Investigators say two weeks before the incident, the girl reported to her principal that a man in a white vehicle had pulled up to her bus stop and talked to her. For two weeks, the girl’s mother accompanied her to the bus stop. Tuesday was the first day since that incident when her mother wasn’t there, Chief Simmons said.
The police were able to get a license plate that and it lead them to Jared Paul Stanga, 30. The police noted that his van had been painted and he had goop on his shirt which came from the 11-year-old when she was fighting the man off.
Stanga, was arrested and charged with attempted kidnapping of a child under 13, aggravated assault and battery. Stanga has a lengthy history that includes the abuse of a child.
